What separates a cheap face cream from an expensive one?

Is it worth spending lots of money on the more expensive face creams, or do they have basically the same ingredients as the cheaper ones? What separates a cheap face cream from an expensive one?
Sometimes it can be name brand and where you purchase it from, like in department stores. Quality ingredients and science is what separates quality from just poor quantity. Cheap products are usually filled with fillers, ingredients that don't really effect the skin. If you look at the first ingredient on the back that is what your product has the most of. The last ingredients are the least in that product. So,say you look at a moisturizer that contained hyluronic acid which is great for your skin and its listed last on the back of the bottle. Don't buy it. Scientifically if the ingredients are not molecular structured small enough to penetrated your skin you probably won't see good results. Expensive products usually contain less but last just as long or longer due to there concentration. Cheap products have more in the bottle but its just more junk.

Hope that made sense. Make sure your products are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. Its should say on product. What separates a cheap face cream from an expensive one?
face creams do very little whatever the cost. The basic functions are two: prevention of moisture loss (sorbolene costs pennies) and sun protection; most moisturisers have a 15 SPF factor). yr skin is best served by eating the right diet and not smoking. I am a cosmetic doctor and organic chemist. Report Abuse

Expensive face creams are expensive for a reason. The quality of ingredients and the research into finding what works best all cost extra money. With my face I do not take chances with generics.
Quality ingredients. It makes all the difference.
The difference is in quality of ingredients used in the products and the use of (sometimes) harmful fillers. I agree with the previous poster that you should check into Bee-Luscious. They are top of the line. The best I have ever used.
Cheap ones aren't that good of quality. Granted you may get more for your money but I'd rather buy something in a smaller container that's more likely to work than waste money on one that didn't work.

Ingrediants aren't the same. No matter what the outside tells you.
